Context at every layer
Translations follow your voice and style rules, and understand the context and logic of your product.
Translate your docs site in minutes with General Translation: on Mintlify, Fern, Docusaurus, or plain Markdown and MDX
Quickstart
Use Locadex, the AI agent which connects your codebase, translations, and content sources. It’s the fastest way to run General Translation's full-stack localization.
Locadex is the General Translation AI agent which connects your codebase, translations, and content sources.
After setup, Locadex can configure your project and automatically translate it into the languages you choose.
Locadex currently supports Next.js, Mintlify, Fern, and Docusaurus projects, along with React applications built with Vite, Gatsby, Redwood, React Router, TanStack Start, Bazel, esbuild, Rollup, Rolldown, or webpack.
How Locadex works
Locadex works inside your GitHub repository and automatically opens or updates PRs with generated changes. Three automation templates keep your localization up to date:
t() and the T component.Pull request mergedes, fr, ja
Production-grade translations of your full documentation site in just minutes
Connect our Locadex agent with the GitHub repo where your docs live. It detects Mintlify, Fern, and Docusaurus projects for you.
Pick your source locale and target languages. There is nothing to install and no config to write by hand.
Locadex does all the configuration for you and opens a PR with your translated pages, multilingual navigation, and internationalization (i18n) routing. Merge it and your translated docs are live.
In Hamburg, your Mintlify docs open in English, and the site offers no German. The navigation in docs.json lists one set of English pages and no languages. General Translation lets you choose languages, and Locadex opens a translation pull request. Authorize the General Translation app on GitHub, and choose your docs repository in the Dashboard. Create an automation from the Generate translations and push template for Mintlify, then run its setup with your languages. Locadex's pull request adds a navigation entry per language and the translated pages. The merged site's menu switches the docs to Spanish, Japanese and German.
General Translation builds the full localization stack, which means a frictionless experience for both developers and users

The highest-quality translations that understand your product and check against your entire docs site
Translations follow your voice and style rules, and understand the context and logic of your product.
Each page is proofread, compared with your source, and checked for consistency against your other pages.
Every line is editable in the Dashboard, with side-by-side languages, history, and comments.
Whenever you update your docs, Locadex translates the change and opens a pull request for you. Just review and merge

General Translation connects your code, content, translations, and review in one platform
Translation converts content from one language into another. Internationalization (i18n) prepares your site to support multiple locales: routing, navigation, dates, and plurals. Localization (l10n) is the umbrella: adapting the whole product for each locale, from the words to the formatting. On a docs site, internationalization is the locale routing and multilingual navigation, translation is your pages in each language, and General Translation handles the whole localization workflow, continuously.

For a one-off pass, yes. But shipping docs you can trust every week, in every language, takes a system around the model.
Your pages aren’t just text. MDX components, imports, and code blocks must come back exactly as written, frontmatter keeps its keys, and heading IDs like {#configure-client} stay attached so deep links don’t break.
Your docs are a site, not a page. Navigation needs a version per language, locale codes have to fit what your platform accepts, and “workspace” must translate the same way on page 1 and page 400 (and in your app, for which we also support localization).
Your docs change every week. Each update should translate only what changed, keep your reviewers’ hand edits, and land as a pull request on the right branch. Adding a language later shouldn’t break the ones you have.
Multiple team members need control and visibility: see every line side by side with its source, history, comments, roles, and tone rules for each language.
General Translation runs all of this end-to-end. We handle thousands of localization PRs for our customers, so they can focus on building a product the world loves.
Locadex sets up Mintlify, Fern, and Docusaurus projects and opens a pull request with the configuration and your translated pages. For docs built with anything else, the gt CLI translates Markdown and MDX files from a gt.config.json.
Minutes, not a migration. Connect your repository, choose your languages, and merge the pull request General Translation opens; translation runs at scale from there (Ramp translated 40,000 keys, millions of words, in a few minutes). You can also hand setup to your coding agent with the Setup for Agents button.
It depends on your platform. A Mintlify site can use every language Mintlify supports, and Markdown and MDX files translated with the gt CLI can use any of the 120+ locales General Translation supports.
Yes, continuously. Our Locadex agent runs on the pull-request, commit, or manual triggers you choose, translates what changed instead of the whole site, and delivers through a pull request, so every release ships in every language with the change that introduced it.
General Translation lets you set Custom Prompts with your tone and style, and a Glossary that pins product names and key terminology. Context is applied consistently across all of your translations, including your app, website, docs, slides, and design files.
No. Translation preserves MDX syntax and component structure while translating the human-readable content.
