Supporting open-source software

General Translation is giving away $15,000 to developers who build and maintain open-source projects.

About

The open-source ethos is core to what we do at General Translation. Our flagship internationalization (i18n) libraries are open source under the MIT license.

We’re now supporting other open-source developers who build and maintain software for the public good, starting with $15,000 in no-strings-attached funds across fifteen developers. Each will receive a $1,000 cash grant, as well as $5,000 in credits for General Translation’s platform.

Who should apply

To be eligible, projects must:

We’re looking to fund projects that many developers rely on but that lack institutional support. We’re also excited to fund creative and novel directions, and especially keen to see more projects in the language infrastructure and i18n space (although this is not a requirement).

Apply or nominate a project

To be considered, simply link your project or nominate another developer’s repo in the comments of our post:

Submissions and nominations will be accepted on a rolling basis. Payments will be made through GitHub Sponsors and credits granted directly on the GT platform. Grantee projects will also be featured on our blog.

We’re excited to see what you’re building!
