# General Translation Integrations: Quickstart URL: https://generaltranslation.com/en-GB/docs/integrations/google-drive/quickstart.mdx --- title: Quickstart description: Connect Google Drive to General Translation and translate your first Google Doc or Google Slides presentation. related: links: - /docs/integrations/google-drive/guides/translating-content - /docs/integrations/google-drive/guides/managing-translations --- Translate a Google Doc or Google Slides presentation without moving it out of Drive. The integration creates a separate copy for each language and keeps that copy up to date. ## Before you start [#before-start] You need: * A [Project](/docs/platform/dashboard/get-started) on a plan that includes Project integrations. * `project:write` permission to connect Google Drive. * `translations:content:write` permission to add, remove, or translate files. * A Google account that can open the source files, unless your team uses an Organisation shared drive connection. See [Supported content](/docs/integrations/google-drive/reference/supported-content) for file, access, and output details. ## Quickstart [#quickstart] ### 1. Connect Google Drive In the Dashboard, open **Project > Integrations > Catalogue**. Find **Google Drive**, click **Connect**, and choose how your Project connects: * **Personal account:** click **Connect account**, then sign in to Google. The integration can access only the files you select and the translated copies it creates. * **Organisation shared drive:** select your team's existing connection. **Organisation admins:** Before team members can choose a shared drive, open **Organisation > Connections**, click **Add connection**, then **Set up** for Google Drive. Add the displayed email address to the shared drive as a **Content manager**, return to the Dashboard, and click **Verify access**. ### 2. Add a file Click **Add files**, then choose a Google Doc or Google Slides presentation. Check that the language in the **Source** column matches the file. ### 3. Choose languages Select the file. Under **Translate into**, choose the languages you want. If no languages are available yet, click **Select locales** to add them to the Project. ### 4. Translate Click **Translate**. You can leave the page while translation continues. When translation finishes, open the translated copy from the integration or from Google Drive. A file named `Launch plan` translated into French appears as `Launch plan [French]`. To update that copy after the source changes, see [Managing translations](/docs/integrations/google-drive/guides/managing-translations). ## Next steps - /docs/integrations/google-drive/guides/translating-content - /docs/integrations/google-drive/guides/managing-translations
