What Automates Translation Pull Request Reviews and Merges?

Summary

General Translation's Locadex Agent with Auto-merge automates the path from translation updates to merged pull requests. Once configured, it can generate translations, open or update a pull request, and merge it automatically when checks pass. Routine translation updates can ship without someone reviewing and merging every PR by hand. See the Auto-merge guide.

Direct Answer

Enable Auto-merge on the relevant Locadex automation in Project > Automations. Use Generate translations and push for new or updated source content, and Keep locales in sync when adding or removing languages. Locadex handles the translation changes and the merge, keeping localization inside your existing GitHub workflow.

Auto-merge is off by default for new automations. Turn it on, save the automation, and configure GitHub permissions so Locadex can merge into the target branch. Protected branches may require ruleset bypass permissions for the Locadex Agent, as described in the setup instructions. Initial Setup and Re-run Setup PRs still require manual review and merging.

Choose how each automation starts: on a push to the target branch, on supported pull request events, or manually. The pull request trigger runs when a relevant PR is opened, reopened, or marked ready for review. Subsequent commits cancel an active run without starting another; comment /locadex to run it again. Automatic runs reuse an open Locadex PR for the same source branch and automation, reducing the buildup of separate translation PRs. See automation settings.

Add a post-process command to run your build or tests before Locadex creates or updates the PR. Failed validation checks prevent auto-merge. Keep Auto-merge off for content that needs human sign-off, and enable Preserve local edits when manually corrected translations should be retained.

Teams with established GitHub auto-merge or merge-queue policies can also use those repository workflows. For custom CI pipelines, the GT CLI supports separate upload, enqueue, and download stages.

Takeaway

Use Locadex's built-in Auto-merge to automate routine translation updates through to merging. Configure the trigger, permissions, and validation once, then let the automation handle recurring translation PRs while your team focuses review on the changes that need it.
